Gamban Partners with Free Me South Africa

Helping employers tackle gambling harm and support employee wellbeing

10/27/2026

Gamban are delighted to partner with Free Me South Africa to help tackle gambling harm in the workplace.

This collaboration will link our award-winning blocking technology into FMSA’s Workplace Gambling Harm Reduction Management System.

This means employers will have practical tools to help reduce their exposure to online gambling.

Why this matters

The South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) has warned that more people could experience severe financial and mental health consequences linked to gambling addiction due to South Africa’s booming sports betting industry

Gambling harm is rising, with 7% of South African adults spending more than their monthly income on gambling, relying on credit or loans for household expenses.

With online gambling increasingly accessible through digital platforms, this puts employee financial wellbeing and mental health at risk.

Through the partnership, participating employers will be able to provide Gamban's blocking technology as part of FMSA's broader workplace prevention programme.

About Gamban

Gamban blocks access to 750K+ gambling websites and apps on supported devices, helping establish a practical barrier to online gambling.

We always recommend a multi-layered approach, and our technology will complement FMSA’s existing workplace awareness, education and early-intervention initiatives.

Expanding Workplace Gambling-Harm Prevention

Under the partnership, FMSA will also make Gamban available to participating corporate clients as part of their workplace wellbeing programmes.

The organisations will also explore joint awareness campaigns, employer education, webinars, research and other initiatives aimed at strengthening gambling-harm prevention.

The collaboration supports FMSA's wider objective of helping South African organisations integrate gambling-harm prevention into employee wellbeing.

"Gambling-related harm does not stop at the workplace door. Its impact can extend to employee wellbeing, financial stability and organisational performance.

This partnership allows us to combine Gamban's digital protection technology with our workplace prevention framework, giving employers practical tools to address gambling-related risks proactively.

Our focus is not simply on blocking access to gambling. It is about creating healthier, more resilient workplaces through prevention, education and meaningful employee support."

Matt Zarb-Cousin, Co-Founder and Director of Gamban, said:

"We are pleased to partner with Free Me South Africa to make gambling-blocking technology more accessible through workplace initiatives.

Employers have an important opportunity to support employees who may be experiencing gambling-related difficulties or who want to take preventative steps.

By combining Gamban's technology with FMSA's workplace programmes, we can help extend practical digital protection to more people across South Africa."
