<h2>Help Us Support Crucial Research on Gambling and Mental Health</h2>We’ve been approached by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), who are conducting a major study commissioned by GambleAware. The research is exploring the links between gambling harms, suicidal thoughts or behaviours, and access to treatment and support.NatCen is looking to interview people who have experienced both gambling-related harm and suicidal thoughts or behaviour. Interviews will run until the end of June 2025, are entirely confidential, and participants will receive a £50 Love2Shop voucher as a thank you.<h3>Who can take part?</h3>You may be eligible if you:<ul><li>Have experienced gambling harms</li><li>Have also had suicidal thoughts or behaviour</li></ul>There will be a short screening call (up to 30 minutes) to confirm eligibility and ensure your wellbeing is supported throughout the process. Interviews will last around 90 minutes and take place online or by phone at a time that works for you.<h3>What will the interview involve?</h3>Topics will include:<ul><li>Your experience of gambling and how it may relate to suicidal thoughts or actions</li><li>Life factors that influenced your mental health or gambling behaviour</li><li>How easy or hard it was to get support</li><li>Any stigma you’ve faced</li><li>Your ideas for better treatment and support services</li></ul>Participation is voluntary, confidential, and you can withdraw at any time.<h3>Why is this important?</h3>The findings will help inform future gambling harm prevention, treatment, and mental health support strategies in the UK. Dutch regulator KSA funds pilot, making Gamban available to support recovery.

Dutch gambling regulator <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://kansspelautoriteit.nl/">Kansspelautoriteit (KSA)</a> has agreed to fund a pilot that will provide Gamban free-of-charge for a year to people in the Netherlands.This follows similar partnerships struck with Norway’s government-owned national lottery and gaming operator, Norsk Tipping, to provide its software to those who are self-excluded, as well as Finland’s monopoly operator Veikkaus. Gamban is also free through Ohio’s self-exclusion platform TimeOutOhio.Anyone in the Netherlands can obtain a free one year Gamban subscription by contacting the country’s national support service, Loket Kansspel, via the website, WhatsApp, email or over the phone. Users will be able to access a recently released Dutch version of the app, making it even easier for people in the Netherlands to take positive action in their recovery journey. Gamban is also assisting the KSA in detecting unregulated sites in its renewed efforts to tackle illegal gambling.Nathalie Smit, Director at Loket Kansspel said: "At Loket Kansspel, we believe that taking control of your online environment is crucial for breaking free from gambling addiction.
